Belur Math, established by Swami Vivekananda, is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and stands as a symbol of harmony of religions and selfless service.
Our Activities
The Ashrama temple provides a serene and sacred atmosphere for prayer, meditation, and worship. Daily worship, bhajans, and special celebrations help devotees cultivate inner peace and spiritual strength amid the pressures of modern life.
Timings – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Sunday closed)
Admissions for students – First week of every month (based on ‘first come first served’)
The Book Stall offers spiritual literature published by Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, including works of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother, Swami Vivekananda, and other saints. Books on Vedanta, yoga, meditation, value education, and self-development are also available.
Timings – 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. everyday

Vivekananda Students’ Home provides a disciplined, value-based residential environment for students. Along with academic support, emphasis is laid on character formation, moral values, self-confidence, and holistic development inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s ideals.
Admissions: In the month of March every year (Prospectus and admission form available at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chandigarh)
Regular yoga and meditation sessions are conducted for people of all age groups. These sessions promote physical health, mental calmness, emotional balance, and spiritual well-being in accordance with India’s ancient yogic tradition.
Timings – 7:15 a.m. to 8 :15 a.m. (1 hr. everyday)

Bal Sanskar programs nurture moral values, discipline, and cultural awareness among children. Yuva Manch engages youth through lectures, discussions, service activities, and leadership training to channel their energy towards constructive and nation-building goals.
Timings – during summer vacation
The Ashrama also regularly conducts youth workshops and motivational lectures in schools and colleges, focusing on character-building, stress management, concentration, goal-setting, value education, and nation-building ideals. These interactive sessions aim at awakening confidence, clarity of purpose, and a spirit of service among students.
Inspired by the ideal of “Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva” — serving man as God — the Ashrama actively participates in relief and rehabilitation activities during natural calamities and emergencies. Assistance in the form of food distribution, clothing, essential supplies, medical aid, and rehabilitation support is extended to affected families. Through these efforts, the Ashrama seeks to bring timely help, hope, and dignity to those in distress.
